I'm familiar with the 990 I have had them in the past for repairs but have never come across issues of the kind you speak of or anyone asking for it they have always been fine with factory spec alignments, that being said there are adjustments or limit adjustments that may allow the range to...
Ok, I will try to put something together on the DDS VFO. For now, this is the finished DX99V sporting a new Bezel, Faceplate a new set of knobs, and new plastic washers behind the knobs. This unit kept me busy seemed like every issue I cured caused another issue but I do believe it's in good...
It is my intention to do a video but it may actually be several videos not because it will take me several days but because it ends up being several days with all the interruptions and calls I field every day for repairs and the occasional walk in which always seems to eat up the day. But I will...
I received the faceplate I will get on it as soon as I finish up the ROBYN 520D restore but I should have that done today hopefully but I get so many phone calls and distractions throughout the day it takes up more time than it should but I will get it done.
Also looks like I will be doing an...
This is just what I could remember I know I'm leaving something out but this is what I repaired in the last 2 weeks and turned away 3 times more than this just don't have the time.
GALAXY 99V WHICH I JUST FINISHED:
RANGER 69 BASE
GALAXY DX2517 BASE:
TEXAS STAR 500 MOBILE:
DONKEY STOMPER 2 X 8...
Did I miss something or did he not say this was an intermittent issue. So if I'm right then all those steps Ray listed are valid but only when the unit is in a none working intermittent state. So it's all valid except (Intermittent loss of output power) Soooooo! you first need to be able to...
I will say I had one of these back in around 1979 on a 60' tower up on a ridge and it was a force for sure as I was running an old Footlocker about 600 watts. I could talk to stations in NY about 120 miles due north of my location. Worked really well for about a year till we had a freak wind storm.
Well, then you have a radio problem! can't tell you what it is as it could be many things that are causing it. You are sure the antenna is still functioning as it should?
Try this adjustment set the swr while fully modulating SSB whistle while calibrating the SWR meter then switch to test the SWR's while talking with MFJ . The radios internal swr meter is auto calibrating so it compensates for the difference in power from AM to SSB.
OK I went back I see that you said there was no SSB power so if you see frequency Flash with the frequency counter at the antenna there must be something a slight bit of power if you have another radio you can listen to while transmitting on the Washington that might help decide what's...
I must confess I sometimes post without that little voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me don't assume that voltage testing is part of the routine don't ever assume that frequency testing with either a scope or frequency counter is part of the routine, so for the record, the first...
