I hear that ...... well I don't think these radios are pretending to be 955's. Perhaps the best things are the Price Point and the 15 Meter Gift.

Ok, Here's my take, Long Story Long The QT80 is a neat little bugger. I will keep it. I am glad to be back on HF in any capacity after being off for a couple of years. I'm on a budget. Couldn't spend a lot right now. Will continue to save up and get an IC 7300 when I can and put my 80M Loop back...

While testing power levels thru the bands - just now seeing that mine is not 21~31 straight thru. It jumps from 21.500 up to 24.715. Not that I have any use for that area .... still thought it was supposed to be straight thru? Anyone else seeing this?

I'm also in a Q6PRO & QT80 Facebook Group. A guy suggested turning OFF the TXNR and that seemed to help. Now seeing 100W SSB on a whistle and 60W Swing on AM. Maybe this rig would benefit from a power mic. I can use my D104 with an adapter or try one of the K PO 532 handheld power mics. . No Go...

Hi guys, can use some help. QT80 arrived yesterday and all is setup. On the air good this morning after resolving an antenna system issue from installing my stored 1/2 wave vertical and coax. Have rig fully opened up. Issues: AM 22-25 key with LOW forward swing (maybe 5 more watts) turned all...

What year and why did you get into the Radio Hobby?

1976. High School Friends were getting into to it and it seemed like interesting fun. First Radio was a JC Penny Pinto, 23ch, bought used from a local. Had a Modulation Light on the front that would fire when talking. Punky little 5A power supply and a new Hy Gain 5/8 Penetrator Ground Plane on...

One last question/comment. I grant that I'm coming in towards the end of this although the thread is only from June 22, AND I have only recently become interested in getting (another) radio out of this category. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong but is not the QT80 here a Q6PRO with a different...

It Bears B*tch'n About eBay Again ··········

So my recent attempted purchase of a Radioiddity QT80 on ebay for $200 has fallen through. I got concerned after the seller didn't ship after 4 days. When he finally responded he discovered .... which he should have known .... that being a newer seller with less than their prerequisite number of...

    Power Supplies

The Megawatts and similar budget supplies work great for cb & higher frequencies. Can't go wrong. For the ham side, they start throwing out nasty RFI around 24mhz and below. Again, NO noise at 11 meters and higher.

Hi Pez, Seeing reports that the 15M Power Output varies widely rig to rig. You said "slightly reduced" on yours but didn't mention the watts. What are you seeing on yours on 15M?

Hi Greg, You are showing two different adapters. Can you confirm which one the QT80 matches to? The 6 Pin configuring looks the same but one is RCI Style and the other AT 6666. I'm guessing is the 6666 as the Tag on the QT80 shown references { 6666Pro)
