Yeah, but now that I am retired......
I have the time,
I have the equipment,
I have the equipment organized/laid out.......
I just have to be able to justify the ongoing expenses to "Her Royal Majesty"!!!!!!!!! ;)
[edited to add]
The GOOD news is ... I have a **** pot of radios to work...
My bench had always been shared in duty as my "work at home" spot as well. It had stuff all over it to do with "work".... other stuff I just never had a plave for.... it was a mess. The test equipment was all over the place and NOT laid out well for.... frankly.... ANYTHING.
The 26th of...
Nomad, thanks for two things.......
The process on the TRC-457 chassis.... and
Finally getting through my skull with a purpose for RIT.
I had never thought about using it that way.
I like the idea of calling the clarifier either "Tracking" or "Fixed".
I know... sigh.... nobody asked!!!!!!!
But to me that is even more descriptive of what is going on.... or, depending on the modification technique, one is ATTEMPTING to make go on.
That is an excellent thought. I hadn't considered any kind of unwanted oscillation but you are absolutely correct!!!! Much appreciate the additional input.
As far as having a carrier on SSB.... IC2 is your balanced modulator. I would do some scoping around there. It should be getting in RF and AUDIO and putting out double sideband carrier suppressed signal.... so the carrier should be getting nulled out right there in IC2. If it isn't...
Receive only on HOT signals? On the surface it would seem like the RF/IF section is working... albeit at low gain. Some things you might check (may sound odd)... AGC and Noise Blanker. They both serve to control gain in the RF/IF strip. AGC does it normally to create an even level for...
Thank you so kindly.... I am pretty sure I have it though! Through the years I have collected more info on the SBE Console V "than the law allows"!!!!
There actually is a SAMS that covers almost all of it. The Console V (also referred to as CB-40!) had a mobile version called the...
Hawkeye351, please don't interpret this as a "sermon"! Actually intended to be "encouragement"!!!!!
I truly hope that we have not seen the last posting from you.
In every forum that I have become part of... there are those willing to jump in and help, there are those who want to criticize...
I did finish it quite some time back. At the time work was keeping me busy and I just never got back to it. But retirement last year came around so FINALLY I got it out to take a look at it.
While aligning it.... a DVM probe slipped.... and the little transistor regulator on the AC power...
JUST to describe the weird space I am in!!!! I went to DeVry - Dallas in 1975 in the Degree program. Right after I got my ASEET I was hired on at the NASA JSC to work in the Shuttle Mission Simulator facility where the crews trained.
I took off on a path at work that led me to move into...
Just looking at the SAMS CB Photofacts and I see that the Cobra 21 and 25 are in the same volume.
So if the same SAMS copy covers both radios.... how do you know what the differences are? Surely a 21 is not identical to a 25 or everybody would have saved money and gotten a 21. I did see...
Well... I came in to answer the question in the Subject line.....
I have two...
A B&K Precision 2040 CB Signal Generator for basic CB/11m band work
and if that doesn't do it.....
A Boonton 102F 500 MHz AM/FM RF Generator that covers anything else up to 500 Mhz
Then I saw.... "a budget"
On...
