I had a family issue pop up. Plus my new order of caps should be in this week (had an entire batch of 100uf caps bad), switching brands of caps due to a bad batch of one value that I use a lot of.
D77 I think is correct. Thing is, this radio received and transmitted fine before and after I...
Got a question on the CTCSS function of the Retevis HS4.
Is there anyway to lock onto someone's code they have set on their end?
I've heard that if I go to a frequency in FM mode that someone has a code set on, but I don't have the code for, that I could go into the menu and move to the...
Board number is "SRT-3600-10".
There is no difference between external speaker (3.5mm jack) and internal speaker volume. It does switch properly from internal to external speaker.
So far my 100uf caps I put in show as bad esr (new nichicons). Guess I got a bad batch of 100uf caps. That plus...
Could be one of these original caps in front of the audio IC and near the mic/op amp. All these caps are original (30 to 45 years old), I only replaced the few that looked overheated and slightly bulging/opening, gonna replace all the caps in those two areas and then give an update on voltages...
Got a Colt Excalibur on the desk today. Nice looking radio, eat up with roach tracks and crap.
Cleaned it out thoroughly. Radio comes on but has very low volume on receive (signals are very good on meter though) even with volume wide open (barely hear it). Tried to transmit and it just makes a...
FCC Data - CM-2358S
Serial No. 047345
Just checked again, it is 70701.
I've read that the JC Penny 6248 is basically the same radio. I found a service manual on Scribd for the 6248 but I don't have an account to download it. Anyone have the JC Penny 6248 service manual?
Got a Sears RoadTalker 40 base on the desk today.
Issue:
Powers on and that's it. Very little hiss in speaker with volume wide open.
No transmit.
Meter light out.
Evaluation:
Needs recapping throughout.
No hackery anywhere in this radio.
Got the receive and transmit issue fixed.
Turned out to...
I had went through all my finals/drivers the other day with my tester (TC1) three times each. All these transistors showed as good transistors with good HFe.
The NOS Mitsubishi 1969's I had checked and showed as 40 to 75, now show as 0 to 2 HFe.
The NOS 2312's showed over 50, now show 0 to 2...
He fell asleep with the key locked down. I've already spoken with him about doing this again. He now understands the damage it causes, not just to the radio but on the airwaves also.
And, I look at it this way,
He's never done me any wrong, never caused me any trouble, always offers to pay me...
Got another Galaxy Saturn on the desk today. Someone stamped the sale date on the inside heat shield. Sell date was July of 1996.
Issue:
Low transmit power.
Evaluation:
Tested finals, driver, pre-driver, af regulator, Passthrough regulator, solder joints. All check out good, except for the...
I see on the datasheet for both,
2166
Minimum - 35
Typical - 70
Maximum - 180
1969
Minimum - 10
Typical - 50
Maximum - 180
So, the driver being at 29 is past the minimum point and the final at 28 is way below the typical point, veering on the minimum point.
Got a used 2166 at 67 HFe and a...
I'll check that, thank you.
I did check voltage from power supply, it's showing 14v. Lights or nothing dims when keyed up.
Radio receives great.
I'll check that regulator though...
