Sounds like you've been through quite a lot over the past few years. Sorry to hear about your losses. Glad you're getting through it all OK.
We are all here to help each other by kicking around ideas and sharing past experiences.
One thing I just thought of that you may not know about DXE is...
The Rohn looks like an easy way to go. I would consider the ROHN H50 43 ft mast and take off the top section which is 1-1/4 in diameter so the next section should be 1-1/2 which is needed for the 1-1/2 U bolts for the Antron 99.
These appear to be 9 ft sections so a 43 ft minus 1 section...
Working with 2 inch galvanized or similar shouldn't be that difficult. If you want a telescoping setup with a 1-1/2 pipe inside, you should be able to stand on your roof and slide it in. I also should mention I drilled another hole on the 1-1/2 pipe near the top and put a bolt and lock nut so...
I used these from Max Gain systems for an OCF once used. These are excellent quality with easy thumb-locks for each section. They do come in a heavy duty version and different lengths up to fifty feet and they have lots of needed accessories like guy rings and easy to use guy rope tensioners...
That's all is need for full TX expansion for 10, 11, 12 and 15m.
You can set the radio for HAM bands and you only get the full 10m band while setting it up HF bands you get 24.715 Mhz to 31.105 Mhz and on 15m the range is limited to 21.000 to 21.500 Mhz and power is reduced to about 40 watts...
To add to that, You probably seen some Ham's shack pics with Henry 8k and 3k amps. How many of them have NEVER turned it up passed 1499 watts?
Of course if you push the limits on this site you can get banned as well but this site is far more forgiving.
I use QRZ for the logbook and lookups...
I agree with The Yaesu 450, it is a good rotor for small to medium size antennas. It is pricey and you'll need to purchase the lower mast clamps to attach to a pole. Also with a heavier rotor I would strongly suggest using a thrust bearing and use the supplied guy wire tabs to guy it more...
Nicely done!
Looks like it's about 36ft up in the air. Should work very well when 6m is open. I see your analyzer shows a full Mhz of bandwidth under 2.1 and the phone portion is the sweet spot.
I recently added a 6m dipole element that sits on top of my Mosley 5 band beam. I just copied the...
I perused Wolfman D-Rail CB shop and priced a STRYKER 955 with nearly all the services and gadgets he can do to the radio and it bumped up the price to a whopping $1730.00 and he doesn't include free shipping so that can be another $50 or so. With tax it'll be about 2 grand!
If you mostly...
That was a "Superwackpack-turbotunedtruckerised" LOL!
Funny how that superwackpack reference occasionally comes up on the forum. Radioactive's best tune up offered, how could you go wrong with a name like that?
I believe they disappeared into the AZ desert some time ago but the...
Wow! and to think what D-rail says about that certain infamous CB shop charging $800?
I watched a few minutes of D-Rail's YouTube videos and I sure wouldn't pay that kind of money for a radio to sound like that.
I purchased an Anytone 6666Pro from Scott's with no tune just the TX frequency...
Think of a tuner as the antenna because this is what the radio will see therefor it should be the last component before the antenna.
The routing of switches seems correct. 3 radios on a 3 way switch that outputs to a 2 way switch. The 2 way should have a dummy load that terminates to one output...
Sounds like you already have verticals which are good for local and DX but a horizontal beam will work better for DX if that's what you're wanting.
I recall a V quad is designed to give both vertical and horizontal patterns but I believe these are a compromise in efficiency especially compared...
Not exactly with auto-tuners,
Auto-tuners especially the one's built in to modern Ham rigs don't tune a real SWR over 3.1 before they will go into bypass. There are some higher end rigs that sell optional tuning modules that allow up to a 5.1 SWR and there maybe some better ones out there too...
Ok it looks like if put in bypass, then you can initiate a tune yourself with a carrier and hitting the tune button. That will work.
Nice and compact for portable or mobile and the price is nice!
OK thanks for info, I like the tuner for use with a mobile setup with just a 25 watt radio.
I can't find any online manuals on this tuner.
So what does that AUTO button do, does it cycle on/off between a true auto-initiated tuning cycle when it detects a high SWR above a certain threshold or...
A couple points I don't see in the specs.
What's the maximum tuning range? In other words what's the highest real SWR it can tune, 3.1, 5.1, 10.1?
Can it be set to semi-auto tune? I don't like full auto tune because you can be in a QSO and the SWR can jump suddenly due to rain, wind, etc...
Not a good idea, I've done live sound mixing and semi-pro studio mixing so I do have a lot of knowledge in this area.
An audio mixer ls for line level and mic inputs with much lower input voltages than a speaker output jack. CB and Ham radio's can have anywhere up to 8 watts audio output on a...
