Just got it setup again. Will be ready for both Saturday and Sunday. :) (This was the Kraco from earlier this year I fixed on up. Got the crystals swapped for channels 1-8, so Channel 6 on that old Kraco is actually channel 37. :) See ya'll there!

Good eye. I was thinking about throwing a bid at the amp, but it may be a bit too much of a task for me to try and lower the bias on it.

I suppose without pictures of the inside, is reducing the bias current a good thing or was that opposite of what it needed to be? This is the board. (Taken off the internet.)

Sadly many radios probably fall in this category. Never know what is inside. (Better than a roach infested radio, but the roaches died 15+ years ago.) All you can do is just clean it up the best you can. Better than letting it rot away another 10+ years.

Its been a bit since trying 16 LSB, but sounds like this next coming weekend is the time to try it again. I will hope 40 USB stays busy on that Sunday. (I have my dipole centered on 37, so 16 may be pushing it just a little bit... :P But should still be ok.)

I was sweating it for a second if maybe that was the wrong version. I didnt realize they had one without SSB, but I made sure that M250 had SSB.

Here is the link with pictures on how one would go about disabling the pre-driver. KL 503 Pre Driver disable. After some reading, turns out the HD version still has that pre-driver but with some changes to it. (They shoulda just dropped that pre-driver all together.)

I myself can only repair the little 203P amps. Managed to get a few back from the dead. I believe the KL-503 HD is just the KL-503 but without the 1 transistor to drive the rest of the amp. Just curious how many watts were you giving the amp? I honestly never go over 10 watts on SSB to the...

That video had the correct information. This is how it should be: Put the purple wire back to where it is in the picture (Its original spot), then remove the one side on R303. This corrects it so both TX/RX is the same. Upon doing this, I learned my radio is in dire need of help. AM works...

Welp... Just ran into this video... Will report back if by removing one of the legs of resistor 303 will get things going the way they should.

I used the MX-4 cpu paste. Has been fine so far. I recently took apart the RM Italy 203P and the paste was still fine and not breaking down/flaking away. I suppose I can keep an eye out more on the radios/amps of mine I used it on so far. CPUs and GPUs of today get extremely hot and running...
