Glad you got it figured out. It's easy to miss the version needed since there are multiple versions for the same model.

I made several calls on 35 usb today.. nada. I always have heavy AM traffic from south of the border on 35.. Made several west coast and Canada contracts on 36 & 37 LSB all short ones. Slid down to .360 had a 10 minute chat with a dude in Cali.
If your not dead set on mounting an omnidirectional vertical on a separate mast or stand off on your current tower you could consider a beam. A rear of boom mount yagi mounted to your mast below your Vquad could be an option. This would also give you the advantages of directivity and superior gain.
Due to heat and stability issues, I would stay clear of the radio w amp section built in stuff. I would go with a radio and separate amplifier. It might be more of a hassle to move from mobile to shack but I think it's worth the effort. Look into quick disconnects for your power leads...
More times than not..Unfortunately.. when these things happen the media fails to report them. Guess it might not fit into the agenda.
