If your not dead set on mounting an omnidirectional vertical on a separate mast or stand off on your current tower you could consider a beam. A rear of boom mount yagi mounted to your mast below your Vquad could be an option. This would also give you the advantages of directivity and superior gain.

Due to heat and stability issues, I would stay clear of the radio w amp section built in stuff. I would go with a radio and separate amplifier. It might be more of a hassle to move from mobile to shack but I think it's worth the effort. Look into quick disconnects for your power leads...

Grounding a mag mount is a waste of time. If your headliner is out.. pop a hole in the roof.. good permanent mount.. quality antenna. Enjoy.

I missed this detail when reading the original post. Scratch my theory on the grow lights.. those would definitely be going on and off periodically.
