I am somewhat concerned now to why they were removed in the first place though, perhaps someone went to do a alignment on the radio and couldn't get it on frequency and there could be somthing else wrong, we'll find out in due time I guess
Hi, Gregg did get back with me and stated that there really isn't a exact set value of capacitor for these two areas but he said it is usually between 1-5 pf ,he said what I am doing is called padding the crystals to get it to where the two pots will adjust right to the correct frequencies. He...
Can anyone tell me or show me on the schematic what value of caps I should put in each spot, my eyes are having trouble tonight to see the small schematics lol
There is also a couple xtal pin isolator rings on a couple of the transistors there, not sure if they did that at the factory so the pins don't make contact or what.
Ok, here are my findings guys. I do have -8 bias on pins 24, 14, and 17. But I did discover this with my magnifier and I looks like it is missing a couple disc capacitors ! One of the photos here with the missing caps is my unit and the other is. Screen shot from another radio. Look where the...
Absolutely awesome TM 86 thank you very much for that as now I understand it a little bit more now, I will check for the -8 on those pins at the end of your post ! I did find -8 on one of the test points on one of the boards but it wasn't on this chip. Thanks I will get back with the results
I do know that there is change on the pins of that chip as I change the channel selector it will go from like - millivolts to positive voltage usually in the +3 to 4vdc range
Could you possibly go into a little more detail on this as I am new to pll eprom, what type of change am I looking for on the MM 5221 ? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi I recently acquired a CP 2000 that is in need of repair. The radio has no output power and hardly any recieve at all and was wondering on where I should start on this unit. It looks untouched inside and pretty clean. I hear clear audio on PA but that's about it, last night I heard faint...
RV4NAYSD251A is what was on the back of the control, I guess this is supposed to be a 250 ohm pot but when I put the multimeter on it read pretty crazy and there is a bad burnt spot on it so I ordered a new one and hope for the best I guess. I will try to get some photos of it on here soon. I...
Hi all I have this Golden Eagle 300 that I would like to replace the variable potentiometer on, I feel the one that is in the amplifier feels gritty when turned all the way up and am pretty sure it has been replaced before and am not even sure it is a suitable one. I haven't been able to find a...
Yeah, Nomad I toltally understand what you are saying here ! I would be very interested in the bypass conversion instructions if you could locate it . I am also planning on installing a fan for my new tube sockets also as I have read about the solder pins issues. I also wonder and am interested...
