Hi all I have this Golden Eagle 300 that I would like to replace the variable potentiometer on, I feel the one that is in the amplifier feels gritty when turned all the way up and am pretty sure it has been replaced before and am not even sure it is a suitable one. I haven't been able to find a schematic for this amp so I am not sure what ohm rating of pot I should install. Also it looks as if the original was probably a 3 position rotary style pot and that would be nice too. Anyone have any suggestions on this ? Thanks

The old control should have some markings that reveal its resistance rating. Typically three digits in the same format as the three color bands on a fixed resistor. A 250 ohm part would be "251". A 100-ohm would be "101". The letter "B" either before or after the three digits indicates a linear-taper control.

RV4NAYSD251A is what was on the back of the control, I guess this is supposed to be a 250 ohm pot but when I put the multimeter on it read pretty crazy and there is a bad burnt spot on it so I ordered a new one and hope for the best I guess. I will try to get some photos of it on here soon. I took the metal cover off the back of the pot to get a closer look. Thanks fellas

It's not likely that there's a specific Schematic on that amp, I assume it's like the solid state 677 Golden eagle amp that has a variable.
Can you find a part number on the old variable?
Any ohm's reading at all or is it open?

There is readings off of it but mostly in k ohms
