Here is what info I have on the antenna. If the 1/4 directly connect to the matching stubs is supposed to be isolated from the remaining 3 sides of the cube it makes no mention of it. If it is supposed to be isolated that would explain a lot.
Yes sir. I have read that story. They still supply parts for this antenna. The driven element where the stubs are connected uses stainless steel bolts that pass through the fiber glass spreaders. This makes the whole cube electrically common. This is the design I’m a bit puzzled about. I have...
I have home brewed several yagi and dipole antennas with out issues. But this one is being a beast. I think it may have to do with the matching stubs and the way it feeds a cubical quad with both vertical and horizontal polarization.
That’s exactly what I have heard. So my set up is lightning L6 quad, mfj meter Fed from x-force straight 10 pill, driven by tube amp and galaxy base radio. Changing lengths between any one of the four changes my meter results. Tower grounded well. What should I be looking for? As long as I keep...
Some analyzers require 1/2 wavelength coax jumpers to display accurate results. So I’d like opinions around using solely 1/2 wavelength jumpers between meters, amps, drivers and radio. 1/2 wavelength multiples to antenna feed. Wouldn’t that insure your equipment will display more accurate readings...
I recently replaced toshibas with HG pills in my x-Force straight 10 pill. I removed the original unregulated power supply as the HG are sensitive to voltage swings. Planning on stacking 3 of these to replace the unregulated supply. They are dozens of different versions out there. This is the...
Replaced all the Pills with matched HG’s. Verified all the transistor diode side resistors was good and in tolerance. Replaced all the combiner resistors with original 2 watt 100 ohm resistors. As well as the transistor feed back resistors. No heat except the normal transistor heat. Thanks again...
The new set of matched HGs from ICA seems to have fixed the issue. I have only put 10 watts in and get 150 out. I still nervous about driving it with the 150 in. The built in unregulated power supply supplies about 21 vdc tapped on the 115v source. I really would like your opinion on using the...
What’s your thoughts on the variable ac voltage transformer to tame down the unregulated power supply? I have a matched set of HG 2sc2879 16D08 on the way. What effects will an unregulated power supply have on the HGs? Thanks again.
Right. The Chinese knock off actually held up for 3 years before they gave up the ghost. Do you know if HGs will fit in the same hole as these? Carl said they need a regulated power supply if I use them. I also thought about using a variable voltage and reducing the 115 vac to a lower voltage...
Tested and found 3 with a diode fault, one with leg broken off. I likely broke it removing it.3 had HFE of 2. 1 was a 3 HFE. The other 2 tested 16&17 HFE. Think the diode shorts caused the 0 output? Now got to figure out what I want to replace them with.
Roger that. I found a video building a probe on YouTube. I built the one in the screen shot. It seemed to show RF on almost every thing. So I ordered a transistor tester also screen shot. I’m going to take all 10 out and test them to be 100% for sure. I don’t mind buying test equipment. I really...
I have tested and replaced everything I can think of except transistors. Is it possible some transistors are shorted and preventing drive to reach other transistors? And how can I test them?
