You stated that your radio receives in PA mode. You should only receive in CB mode. Not PA mode. Look at schematic and check wiring at CB/PA switch to make sure it is first wired correctly. We can move on from there once you have fixed that problem.

it's alright. I use one behind my 1x6 fatboy. I have it keying 0-6w deadkey on a variable installed on the back. It swings 35 PEP and has good strong audio. Only draw back is the blue is hard to read.

e-chip will be fine tucked up under there. If your critical about frequency, just adjust back on and put the cases back on. I usually turn the unit on and let it stabilize for 30-40 mins before I do adjustments. Cheers
