You already do. I want my ts-50 to work well on AM cb which it does on tx.
The rx would be great if the world of sound operators would clean up the wideband b.s splatter boxes and run clean signals.
I wish you could listen to the ts-50 on AM in the truck for just a few minutes...
It all depends what you want.
What you and i need is a good hf radio that will work well on tx / rx hf radio
at 100 watts pep with a 20-25 watt carrier and be Linear on AM mode.

Lol.... boy did you say a mouthful. The truth will set you free.
Fact is like 543 told me a while back when i was riding W8ji's
coat tail. RPC just give it up ..... we both have been acussed
of cheerleading . and are both Guilty !!!
The audio with the stock cobra mic is the best sounding and easy on the ears.
Your audio is ok. Jason's has too high of a cut. Too rough on my ears to tolerate for a long period.
Also the recieve radio makes a huge difference. You can tell it in the icom used above in the video.
If...
They both sound fine. I would like to hear some Hf rigs on AM
in the trucks. Like a kenwood 480 .
The ts-50 i have had excellent transmit audio , its the frontend overload from
the nasty signals on 19 recieve is what is lacking.
Mike is very professional in his work and videos.
Most of the guys on AM run alot of power.
It has Nothing to do with the radio or reciever,
Its all about band conditions.
Its a mack . 5 - 10 miles depending on band conditions..
To a base unit from 20 to 100 miles again depends on band conditions.
AM is not very effiecient. Best bet is ssb. My favorite is 75 meters .
I dont run my ts-50 kenwood because of slip seating .
If you drive the same truck...
I am speaking of a 5ft cb antenna.
If the analyzer is used at the feedpoint and tuned for lowest swr 1.1 r 50
When the analyzer is adjusted just above that point is when you will see swr 2.1 r 23 and X = 0 This is the resonant point.
This is explained by K0BG and G3TSO.
I...
I have the aa-30 rig expert. I like it.
I also like the dipole idea.
Also be sure and read all of CTR posts.
He is the designer of the Ameritron amps.
Also he is the sharpest knife in the drawer.

FS measurements
The formula is 2*L*L divided by the wavelength where L is the length of
the mobile antenna in feet and the wavelength is 984 divided by the
frequency in MHz. For instance, for an 8.5 ft mobile antenna on 27 MHz,
984/27=36.4 so the far-field starts at 2*8.5*8.5/36.4 = 4 ft.
For...
Thanks you hit it with the matching. I took the matcher off and retuned for lowest swr.
The signal dropped, Also the pre amp on the amplifier did not work..... had to be
a mismatch issue.
I was talking to a base unit 45 miles out. when i took the matcher off and retuned the lowest...

First of all, using the word "resonance" is pointless. I'm not sure where that came from, but it is a nebulous parameter. By definition resonance is when voltage and current are in phase, or when reactance is zero. So what do you call "resonant"? Do you mean when the imaginary...

This is partly why I get a hoot out of reading tuning for low reactance is better than tuning for low SWR. The other reason is any changes in reactance around 1:1 SWR are meaningless to system operation. If the reactance becomes meaningful, the SWR cannot possible be 1:1. This is why I am...
Cliff done a transmit recieve alignment on mine.
No bad caps were found. He checks it all and is reasonable.
I agree on the voltage drop. have had this issue in the slipseat operation.
