Picked up another Golden Eagle 2nd one in a month but unlike last one this one seems to be working ok. The only thing is the OB2 tube is missing in the Sams Photofact book this is a voltage regulator tube but radio seems to be working without it my other Eagle has this tube does the radio...
Thanks Atlasta I checked voltages and seen that wondered if that was to high the Sams book on it shows no voltages and that looks like what is going to side of relay coil is that to much?. Wavrider I just jumpered two wires from old relay still hooked up to new one and it works on keying mic so...
I checked relay coil put multimeter on ohm setting touched coil in and out and meter showed nothing so I think it is shorted out. Thanks wavrider you have always been a great help here on this forum.
I hate to do it also space cowboy but we have no techs close and the others will charge more than radios worth. I have quite a collection of old radios on shelf waiting to get fixed. I am still learning and sometimes pull one off and fix it after getting help here or other forums. Thanks Jimbo
Thanks Radioman for the info I believe I will put it on the shelf until I learn more trying everyday. I may part it out also everything looks good and works except for above problem. I thought maybe someone could steer me to final or cap that could be causing it because they may have had same...
I just got a Golden Eagle and I have no key up on transmitter, checked tubes, Microphone and do not see anything burnt or fried. It has a 110VDC relay but I do not know how to test it have no 110vdc supply. Any ideas on what to look for?? Thanks Jimbo
I have a GE Super base model 3-5875a when I key up no power output for about ten seconds then it will have power out put for 20-30 seconds and then go back to no output. When I put it into sideband mode I get no output at all. This is a very nice looking radio no real techs in my area. Any...
I have a Galaxy DX44v that on all channels the receive volume is very low you can hardly hear DX through the speaker it works fine as far as transmit. I even tried a external speaker and it is no better what can I replace or check to make this better. Thanks Jimbo165
I have checked all the diodes in counter , voltage regulator not sure how to check it but unit is coming on and showing frequency but wrong and keeps changing.
A Lot of amps do give you the choice of if you want to run 110v or 220v I just wondered if it was worth the trouble to install a 220v line for one of these amps. If there is not a real noticeable power increase I guess it will not be worth the extra cost.
Yes binrat I was talking about a tube amplifier. I see heathkits, Dentons and others can be converted but I was just curious if I would get a real noticeable increase in power output on them?
This is a question that I would like to get some info on if I convert a amplifier from 110vac to 220vac will I get a increase in output or wattage from the amplifier? On actual use will you see a increase? thanks Jimbo
I have a Digalog CRC100 that just started acting up. Instead of reading frequency it just keeps changing but stays around 23.000 but will not stay locked any ideas on what I can do to fix it. Thanks Jimbo
I would like to ask is it normal for a watt meter showing pep watts to show a wattage difference switching from a antron 99 to a 3 element gizmotchy beam. When my brother is using his amplifier putting out 1k there is a 200 watt pep difference that will show on the meter. The beam shows 200w...
Well we took out 6lq6 tubes and replaced them with some NOS 6km6 tubes and amp is really starting to come alive. With a low watt radio we are seeing over 1300 watts pep out of amp now and amp does not even get warm my son is using it everyday now. Best thing is we bought 20 6km6 tubes so we...
It has been a while and amp on owners shelf waiting for a fix now. One of the techs I talked to here and I am sure to not explain it quite right but he said batteries were probably used to put a - voltage to tube grid screen to turn tube off. This way it would draw very little from batteries...
Amp done new keying circuit and a very good cleaning of tube sockets also replaced 7 tubes amp still down on power but believe still needs better tubes getting about 900 watts out pep now. We are looking for tubes now 6LQ6 . This amp looks like new and we have not found any info about yet...
