    Hissy fit. AM vs Ssb

There are lots of unlicensed operators on qrz.com. Accounts are deleted usually only if you are a dick and from the usual dicks there, you have to be a REAL bad dick to get dumped.

    11 meter is very quiet?

And 99% of those operators are CBers that got their ham tickets and then returned to CB to continue their crap because they know they would be called out for it on the ham bands.

    Mobile Ham operations banned?

Listening is not the issue at hand. Having a conversation with someone is a LOT more distracting than simply listening to a scanner. Believe me, I am against this type of regulations but I also know for a fact that people in general, not all but a large number, tend to get wound up in their...

    Mobile Ham operations banned?

The old "I was just using it to listen" is a straw man argument. It is the same thing as trying to tell the FCC that you are only using the preamp feature in your amp to hear better, and you never use it to boost your power output. If it is present, it is deemed to be used.

    1)2 wave vertical dipole

You can run the feedline up inside the lower half if you use copper pipe, and that should be the side connected to the shield of the cable. This will decouple the feedline from the antenna rather well.

    Radial wire longevity and such

I beg to differ. Aluminum will deteriorate FASTER than copper, especially if the soil is acidic. I worked in commercial broadcasting for 22 years. ALL AM stations use copper radials. One of my stations first went on the air November 13, 1945. It remained on the same site until we moved it in...

Why does ssb not utilize an anl circuit?

True however REALLY smart engineers can write new ones. ;)

    Radial wire longevity and such

Also at one of our sites we moved in 1986, we made a ground screen about 12-15 feet square out of stranded, bare #6 copper wire. This was installed directly at the tower base. It was basically a screen that we used to help with stability of the ground system in the immediate field of the tower...

    Radial wire longevity and such

We always used bare #10 or #12 solid copper wire for the radials in our AM transmitter sites. Never an issue. On my 5BTV vertical, I used whatever I had on hand, which was a combination of both solid and stranded insulated wire. Size was between 16 and 20 gauge. The more the merrier when it comes...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Not quite sure just how much you mean by a little north of dead south, but from your location to the east coast of Australia halfway between Sydney and Brisbane is 240 degrees true bearing. Not real sure what the deviation between true north and magnetic north is for you.

    VOX features on 11 meter

LOL one night there was a bunch of us on SSB and one guy was using VOX. We were all greeted to just what it took for him to get his kids to bed when they didn't want to go.

    ISS on 38lsb - hoax?

I used to work into Ireland from Nova Scotia in the very late evening, sometimes as late as 2am. You would swear there were zero conditions for but there were indeed.

how to modify a serio ??

Well to be honest you did NOT say you did not have any use for it on the CB band. You should get a copy of the ARRL Antenna Handbook. It contains all the info you need to make your own traps and has some examples of multiband trapped verticals. How you implement them into the tubing is up to you...

    Moonraker Reflector wire

Some people claim huge improvements. Stay away from those people. I tried it on mine. Did not really see any difference at all. The pattern was nice to start with, and any gain difference is measured in fractions of a dB

    VOX features on 11 meter

Wire up a lapel mike and clip it to the sun visor or headliner. Use a foot switch as the PTT. That's what a LOT of undercover surveillance vehicles do. It is hands free and does not have the problems of trying to use VOX in a noisy mobile environment.

how to modify a serio ??

Your best bet is to leave it alone and one of these if you want a vertical. I say this because if you need to ask how, than you are likely not able to understand the complexities of a multiband trapped antenna. In the end, you will end up ruining the Serio. Hygain 5BTV

    ISS on 38lsb - hoax?

Nobody has even mentioned that little thing they would have to penetrate called the ionosphere. It works both ways. I would imagine the HF signal would not be able to penetrate it for the same reason Earth based signals bounce off it. The ISS is above it.

    Nomad, shockwave, TMZ, Andy!!!

Yes......I said that, but you may have missed the context it was meant to be. I prefer natural intelligence as opposed to artificial intelligence in humans. Basically saying that I prefer REAL knowledge as opposed to perceived knowledge.

Isn't that like asking one politician to vouch for the integrity of another politician?
