Yup! Sitting on the edge of my chair I am..... Hard to believe they could make a SSB rig that small. Hoping for good reviews so I can have an excuse to buy one LOL!
I'm tempted, very tempted. I like the size. I like the form factor. It's too bad it doesn't have a little more wattage.....I've been spoilt by my 6666 with its 50 watt output on FM and 60 on sideband! I guess with such a tiny size heat dissipation is a big problem with higher power output...
The DX has returned out here on the west coast of Canada! After hearing very little of anything for over month we have had lots of activity the last three days. Making some Gulf Coast, Louisiana, Florida and Caribbean contacts by day and Lots of Hawaii and Australia booming in again in the...
Maybe I'm missing something, but WHY would you use an SDR for a receiver when you're using an IC-7300?? Surely the 7300 is a superior receiver in every way to the SDR? Just curious..........
I would guess the new longer cable is poorly shielded and you are getting RF in the audio wire within the cable as a result. Solution: Use a better quality mic cable with proper shielding. I've head this exact issue many times by the way!
We usually get a little of something every day even in the lean times. Aussies and Hawaii always seem to get through somehow as do various parts of California. But the last few days not even they can be heard! I had a short conversation with a local yesterday but other than that it's just...
This week's DX report......
Sunday: hisssssssssssssssssssssssss
Monday: hissssssssssssssssssssssss
Tuesday: hisssssssssssssssssssssssss
Wednesday: hisssssssssssssssssssss
Damn! Is that it for the next few years then?
Haven't heard a single voice come out of my radio for three days now. And it was slim pickings for the couple weeks prior to that too. Glad I have other hobbies at times like this!
dxmaps.com Set it to 10 meters as propagation on 10 is very close to 11 meters.
There's also the cluster at 11dx.net though that is more for international 11 meter contacts.
Weird conditions the last few days for sure. Yesterday it was nothing but Hawaii all day long......nowhere else....just Hawaii. Did have a few Aussies sneaking in around sundown but not at the usual blistering signal strength. Couple days before that we had intermittent openings to Texas and...
Good grief! And yet people still keep buying them!
Not surprised they can't build and align a radio, they even seem to to struggle with basic writing skills.......they spelled "Cancelling" wrong on the box, and what the heck does "60 watts up more" mean exactly?
Nope. It's too long. SWR is higher on 40 than on 1, which means it needs to be shortened. Probably quite a bit shorter based on the 2.5 & 4.5 SWR figures quoted!
It's very unlikely that a final has quit if the radio was just sitting unused in a camper all winter! Much more likely to be corrosion in a potentiometer or switch bought on by dampness and cold. Are you testing it on a fully charged battery? Low voltage can create this condition as well.
Picking up here again now too. Just talked to 101 in Pensacola and 000 Maui in the last 30 minutes.
Two day windstorm with gusts up to 60 MPH & heavy rains is in our forecast....crossing my fingers that my antennas stay up!
Probably from the factory. President seems to be headed down the same road as RCI (Ranger, Connex, Galaxy etc.) these days. Cheaper components, poor quality control, and shoddy engineering. I know a couple people who bought the Lincoln +2 and both have had problems with their radios...
The DX forecast says that there have been major geomagnetic storms the last couple days, and will likely be for a couple more days. The sun burped out a giant cloud of, um, sun stuff the other day which is what is causing this. Things should pick up again in a couple days.
It's interesting...
