    A little CPI refurbishing

I've actually done that on some Drake (Kurz-Kasch) knobs on occasion and it does work well. There is a liquid automotive finishing compound called "NicSand" which incorporates 10,000-grit particles and it'll do a nice job too. Those inserts concern me - not sure how delicate the paint is and...

    A little CPI refurbishing

I'm a member of that group - joined a couple months ago - and plan to post these along with details and pics of a few other accessories when I get them finished. In particular: The BC2000 and FC70. There's an Achilles Heel with the display driver and reference oscillator circuitry which I...

    Beware of superhawkwss6 on Ebay

Misrepresentation at the very least. Won't Ebay kick an unscrupulous seller such as that off their site? ETA: After reading this thread in its entirety, "collusion" would be a better term for what's occurring. There's no way in hell the people at both Ebay and PayPal can be that stupid.

    SSTV?

When you're not actually on the air (or have a spare, stable receiver) tune in 6925USB and set your SSTV program to capture whatever it demodulates. Lots of SWBC pirates use that frequency for their programs. Many of them send an E-O-T QSL via slow-scan.

    A little CPI refurbishing

...welcome to the "What-If?" department: Turner OEMmed a couple mics for CPI (the DM-1 and a mobile mic), and I had few beat-halfway-to-hell Super Sidekicks and +3s in Ye Olde Junque Box...so what can we make from them? A candidate +3 was disassembled, cleaned and shot with the same paint...

    A little CPI refurbishing

The '400: This one also required a good cleaning, case repaint and alignment...plus a meter replacement. Additionally, the speech processor circuit was out to lunch: A coupling cap which fed audio from the mic amp to the clipper decided it didn't want to cooperate, was found out and eventually...

    A little CPI refurbishing

Next, the '2000 itself. This rig required a good cleaning both inside and out, a re-paint of the covers and the speaker grille...which was a little challenging without removing the front decal. Knobs were removed and cleaned with soapy water and left to dry while the rest of the radio was...

    A little CPI refurbishing

Finished up a few projects which I wanted to share with the WWDX crew, as both of the radios shown in the thread came from one of the members. First off, a complete view:

STONER PRO-40 Tranceiver and Stoner SPK-40 SPEAKER CB-Sideband Professional | eBay As proud as you may be of your callsign, DON'T write such on a piece of gear that you hope to sell some day - especially if it's collectible.

    HR2510 Accessory connector

Are they standard Molex .062" connectors? If so, Digi-key, Mouser and a number of other electronics supply houses carry them.

    10 is hopping tonight

There's a call and name which brings back memories - worked him mobile in February '92 while en route to the old NOARD shop. '2510 and a Wilson 1000; my friend Stan's (KB8JLV-SK) rig. I used the same model radio and a quarter-wave whip in my own mobile setup during the same time frame and...

    ebay deal of the day

To those who have owned or used a Pro-40: Are they really worth the price they're commanding? The differential SWR bridge is nice, but the one feature I've never seen on any other manufacturer's set is the " whistlestop" - audio notch filter. It's better to implement a notch at IF instead of...

    Triplexer question

Checked the triplexer in wife's car this morning - another MX-324. If you buy one and it has a dead port (no RX; high VSWR on TX), the fix is pretty easy. The most time consuming part of the process is getting all of the cover screws out of the unit.

Wanted - CPI 'Talk Power', WM7000, etc

Looking for a CPI TP-1 speech compressor, WM7000 wattmeter and the 12v power distribution accessory. If anyone needs the 4p Molex female plugs that are used for mode jumper/power connections on the back of the CP2000/BC2000/FC70 and similar accessories, I just got hold of a whole bagful and...

We have a bunch in this area who follow the same shtick: Raise hell with the 11M crowd, go back to 10 and act like nothing happened. Their buddies cover for them (of course). Only problem is that a lot of the offendees have export radios and/or VHF ham transceivers and will bring the fight into...

    Any skip?

From Ohio I've consistently been hearing lots of SW US, Mexican/Latin American stuff throughout the 26-28MHz region. Of course, 10 and 12M haven't been all that great. :(

    Triplexer question

The one which I most recently bought is a Diamond MX-324D. Will have to look at the one in my wife's car (she's also licensed) and see if it's the same model. That unit gave me fits as well. We use these to combine 3 radios (2, 220, 440) into one feedline but I'm looking to do the reverse...

    SECRETAGENT CB

Here's one which was purpose-built for airline travel/diplomatic use. 100w out on SSB/CW and 25w on AME. Coverage from 1.6-30MHz continuous. PSU, ATU in bottom of case; all peripherals (including dipole antenna, mic/key, etc) stored in top under flap: I own this particular rig and a...
