This 25LTD Classic now showing 4.5 watts dead key, and swings to about 30watts according to my WM-1. Can that be right? The Mectron I just re-capped swings to about 15 watts on the WM-1, it's probably a little earlier production than the Cobra. I'm guessing the 25LTD Classic is maybe 1983...

Working on a 25 LTD Classic for my nephews truck. It's an older Taiwan model that has been sitting in the garage for years, his, not mine. I didn't get a pic but the speaker side of the cover had all the wax and stuff on one side that had leaked from the board. No big deal, cleaned up nicely...

Agreed. Also keeps someone from messing with the antenna if you're parked against the curb putting it in easy reach of pedestrians.

22 caps replaced. The 1000uf were spot on, but most of the smaller ones were higher than normal with higher vloss and ESR according to my T7 meter. No shorted or bad caps found.OSCAR branded. Good receive as it had, keys up to about 3.5 watts and swings to 14 watts according to my WM-1.

Nothing remarkable on the back panel, 1 cable marked CB, 1 marked radio, and an input for the car antenna.

The idea behind these to key up and when the red led lights up you are good to go?

When I recap, I check value of the old cap coming out, and the new cap going in. More time consuming, but interesting to see the degradation of the older cap, and QC being what it is, I don't put a bad one back in...just my $0.02 worth.
