LOOKY!!! DX Engineering sells RM Italy AMPS

As I mentioned befire, most of the people I have heard are running qrp rigs, and use the RM Italy amp to boost to 100 watts. I have never loaded my AL-80B with 5 watts, so I am not sure what the output would be. I have also heard that a lot of these guys are space limited, so a full size amp...

LOOKY!!! DX Engineering sells RM Italy AMPS

Some of the folks that run low power Flex 1500's and Elecraft K3's use them to get 100 watts out... supposedly they work pretty good when you don't drive them to full output, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the alternatives. Seems like there was a guy that had a website where he did a...

Source for LED light ring for controls (aka nitro knobs)

I actually bought some led bulbs from these guys: http://www.centsibleamusements.com/pinball-led-lighting.aspx They have bayonet style led bulbs that are used in a lot of the old HF rigs. Thought they might have something that would work for you. 73, Brett

Have you tried any of the pinball sites? They have a lot of LED lights, and most are inexpensive. 73, Brett

    Best power mic

I have not had a single problem with the three that I have... but they are probably 7 years old now. Not sure about the new ones? 73, Brett

    Best power mic

I pretty much settled on the Ranger SRA-158 after fiddling with just about every power mic I could find. It's not a power mic, but plenty clean and clear. 73, Brett

    Getting started

Clubs that test usually provide study classes, too. I used the Gordo book and studied online. Depending on how much time you have to study, a month is certainly do-able. Good luck! 73, Brett

    I'm Excited!

Congrats on the new rig and antenna, and best of luck on your exam! I have a friend that had ran a Cobralite for many years, and I think his was the jr. He told me it worked very well with his tuner, but that 80 meters was quite a stretch, and performance was so-so. 40 and up worked great...

    A Ham I Am

Thanks man. Was just showing some empathy there... didn't mean to put a sad face on the topic. Really glad you are giving it a go again. Like I said, it's a lot of fun, even when the bands aren't cooperating, there is someplace to go and talk. 73, Brett

    A Ham I Am

Sorry for your loss, Riverman. I recently lost my Mom, and it has been really tough. Glad you decided to pursue the hobby after all! Best of luck to you, and keep studying. I'm still kicking myself for putting off getting my ticket for so many years. Tons of fun, and lots of playgrounds to...

Dad is looking to get into ham radio

Very cool! You should be able to find a nice used dual bander for that price. I don't have anything for sale at the moment. If you want to spend a little more, the TYT 7800 is a really nice little dual bander. Pretty much a Yaesu clone. I have been using mine for about a year, and it works...
