Radio's output.
I use an amplifier with all my "AM Regulator" modified rigs, but I run small amps and 2 Watts "swinging 12" presents no problem.
I have used a Mean Well supply up to 28 Volts, but I really don't need it.
Yes, the "Open Asymmetry Project" borrows somethings from the Cobra 148 GTL.
I've found documents dating to 1971 with this transistor arrangement, I'm sure older examples exist in written history.
"Poor man's mauldulator", I like that! (it requires diligence though)
You really have to know what...
100%!
I bought an Alesis 3630 Compressor/Limiter for $50
& I paid about $50 for the Behringer Sonic Exciter SX3040 from a friend.
The Neewer NW-800 microphone is super cheap and sounds great for the price IMHO, they can be had for $20-$35 depends if you opt for the phantom power supply.
Pro...
10-4 Brother, nobody here is doing anything new! (I mean that kindly)
Jose should make a public apology for being a thief c*nt, I don't care how old the solid state modulator is!
His copying of the PCB and then selling them on eBay is a "pirate's tale" if I ever heard one.
You said 24 Volts...
I think the Asymod guy made a "new" revision or updated clone of the MMM board, as you know the first incarnation required +/- voltage rails from an external supply.
Sonar,
I found two videos demonstrating Asymod that aren't from the "support channel".
One had a slightly flawed demonstration...
Here is the cheat sheet for Cobra 25 LTD.
Beware, I did not verify the two voltage rails:
(J2) TX only 8+ Volts
(J5) RX Only 8+ Volts
So double check those as you go along if you're using the image as a "how to".
I hope this is coherent enough for anyone who may need help installing one of...
Hello all, I've made an image with install details for Cobra 29 LTD or Uniden PC-76 radios.
it's for the Spectrum Communications FM 455 Mod/De-Mod PCB
kit that is used to add F.M. Mode to your A.M. only radio (for Export or HAM use only)
I didn't show in the schematic the 8+ Volts sources...
Yeah it's a sickness, one that gets progressively worse..
Towards the end stages you'll be up to your neck in broken equipment with no room left to walk around or even think about repairing things..
But you'll keep buying stuff you don't need because It's a sickness.
I don't know what the upper limit of the carrier power ("D.K.") is, probably 3 or 4 Watts?
I do know these style of amplifiers don't like a very low dead key (less than 1 watt input) or a radio with wild modulation (see: "clipped" & "swing kit"), these amplifiers produce "swing" on their own...
It is the audio being held low, he wasn't using any procecsing just VLC player line level out to the outboard audio amp.
He is going to make a new video using compressor / limiter and the negative peaks will go beyond 90%. :)
I think he was a little close to the SDR, and I agree a bit more carrier; the negative peaks should clean up and get close to 100%.
At some times the EMin is a little fat but I don't really see "squaring".
FQP13N10 as the Driver..
FQP13N10 as the Final..
A.M. regulator modification, "wideband capable".
VLC player from the P.C. to an outboard audio amplifier.
This Cobra 29 LTD belongs to a friend of mine on the west coast.
The Bird 43 has a 50 Watts Element, no PEP kit, and yeah it's swangin'.
I...
The audio amp in the radio can only do so much without creating excessive THD %, the radio itself will struggle to produce anything near 100% modulation with sinusoidal output at such high carrier power.
Watch the 'scope while sampling only the radio and play with the carrier level.
