my galaxy 2527 audio was messing up,l intermittent a lot, turned out it was the mike socket, it seems on galaxy big black box radios the mke plug socket is held in place withjust one screw, that is the ground, i took faceplate off like the galaxy tech said to do and reflow the solder joints on...
couple of days ago made a contact via the east coast ducting at 10 30 pm to dave in chesapeke bay area,, been quiet so much here,,, thursday weather service said a mass ejection from sun will give auroras,, so expect conditions to get lively,,,
use a antenna anylizer,, harmonics can and will mess up a swr reading on external meters,,, using peaked and tuned radios and 10 meter radios and amps will create harmonics,,,
the east coast ducting has started for the summer here in florida, every evening the last week up till midnight contacts being made from florida to above the cheasepeke bay area, so east coasters give it a try, the ducting is every night till about midnight unless a heavy weather event...
i rewired the one i have and put a eletric element in it and use it 'with my realistic htx202 2 meter hand held with a wall wart and antenna made out of tv flat wire for use at field day or in my go bag,,,,
years ago when the holder in mine deformed, i got a battery holder that fit the battery used in the mike, of course i dont know if ya still can get them since it was at a local radio shack,, good luck, and before they came back out with the 7.5 volt battery we just shrink wrapped 5 lr44s...
