So what would you realistically charge? No I'm not looking for a "I don't want to" price.
I just can't imagine it would take a skilled tech such as yourself more than 2 days to complete, would it?

It seems like there is a little less development in the hobby, but other than that is seems pretty much the same for the decade I've been around.
While I don't doubt that he knows something, he has a history of presenting false statements as fact on other forums.
I hope that being questioned about his statements doesn't detour him from sticking around and learning more.
They definitely add up quicker than one realizes. You'd probably be better off to invest in a third meter and bigger slugs, but a guy that had no birds would be money ahead with an lp.
Even then, paying less than $200 each they won't be calibrated, and probably pretty beat up. Add a handful of slugs and a pep kit and you are still over budget, and haven't even addef a cheap scope or spectrum analyzer yet.
Have you ever priced 3 birds, a pep kit and enough slugs to use them? This is cheap compared to birds, plus all of the other functions you don't get with a bird.

My experience with base type antennas is limited to fiberglass verticals, dipoles, and endfeds. I have a steel extendable mast I can mount on my truck to get 30' easily, and I could probably do 40'.
