Yes sir I replaced all the caps with Nichicons. Ok in the photo you see a white/blue wire (far left) it goes to the course on the unlocked voicelock, when I remove that wire the low noise out of the speaker goes away but then the frequency counter is jumping around all over the place.

Thanks for writing me. Yeah the noise still comes out of the speaker when in PA mode. The sound full CCW is just a low noise smooth sound not the actual receive from the radio.

great job on getting it fixed. I just got one of these TR696F for free and seems to work ok. Haven't hooked a watt meter up to it yet but will soon and test it out. So L44 was the problem child? I'll have to remember that if my SSB power output is low.

UPDATE It's all fixed now and back to stock form working like a champ, and the Modulation meter is working again. Thanks to all the chimed in and helped me with this.

I just got one of these Dosy 4002 PSW a friend gave me. Hooked it up and nothing. Took it apart and R1 and R2 are smoked! I looked at the schematic but doesn't show a CRD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok this what I found. This is right underneath VR7 and near C190 some kind of a mod with a jumper and a cut trace. Any ideas what this could be?

looked over the radio a little tonight. C190 is installed correctly. I see a brown wire in that area I need to trace back to the switch panel to make sure it's properly connected and I need to check for a short on the solder side as you mentioned.

Yes the mod meter on the right will work in SWR mode. I just got done with a full re-cap of the 2000. Took forever! I will have a look and check C190. I will check for a solder bridge, I sure hope I didn't put that cap in backwards. Thanks so much for your time. You are always a very big help.

Just got this radio. Trying to get it on 27.570.0 on USB but it won't. I do a lot of international QSO's It will on LSB but not USB. The best I can get out of it on USB is 27.571.5 I need just a tad bit more slide. Anyone know if there a mod to get a few more KC's out of it? Thanks in advance...
