    Ignition noise.

Maybe just a bit. Hahahaha. Amazingly it wasn’t running bad really. It’s better now but looking at those I’d guessed it’d been worse.

It was a little quiet yesterday afternoon on the ride home

    Ignition noise.

Lo and behold one wasn’t a resistor plug. It was the hardest one to get to so my guess is it’s been there a min. Dist cap was arced and corroded. New wires, cap, bug and ngk resistor plugs. Most, not all, ignition noise is now gone. It’s low enough the nb can handle it. Lowered it 5 s units...

    Best tuning of an antenna

No it’s close enough. I just find it’s off a bit. I’m not talking like and additional 2 or 3 or anything. But one lags behind the other. I usually listen to static. Then fine tune it with the meter

    Best tuning of an antenna

Right. Like you said the old terms. My old arrl handbooks from way back talk about that but the new stuff don’t. We’ve lost too much by not keeping the older books. But i think by reason that it would. I wonder though if any improvement is due to just efficiency or if it’s radiation pattern...

    Best tuning of an antenna

I know we had a conversation about if resonance was your best preforming adjustment of an antenna. And swr has been beat to death too. But let me see if I can twist it some more. It’s too chilly for me to be interested in trying this right now but I’ve been curious about trying this out to see...

Like a dog chasing his tail. Fun but kind of pointless.

To top load or not cb mobile

If a quarter wave verticals on a vehicle is the top half of a half wave dipole, then the stretch for current maximum lies in extending the length of the antennas top half. Correct? To do this you’d need to lengthen the antenna by a cap hat, a longer vertical, or a top load coil, correct? or am...

So how to pull the current? Cap hat?

Don’t be yelling at me Mike. I’m delicate. Honestly I forget about fs meters. Thanks for reminding me.

    ASTROPLANE best vertical antenna ever?

Picked up another ap original. I’ll have to rear it apart and clean it all up. Seems to be in good shape other than the nuts and bolts of course.

To top load or not cb mobile

I have run both 102 and loaded whips. Base load center load and top load. I’ve read all the trash on each one about compromise and on and on. 1/4 wave being my choice of whip I have to wonder, height being such a factor in any plot you see i am always looking for better or different. What’s...

    Noise Blankers that actually Work?

I tried one. It does good for certain consistent noise from a single source. It’s not a noise blanker though. But has its uses

    Ignition noise.

Alright thanks guys. Here’s the thing it’s not my first rodeo. It’s bonded it’s grounded it’s scraped and strapped. It needs a tune up because of other issues not because the radio has some noise. But while I’m doing the tuneup I’m looking into advanced options to improve things.

    Ignition noise.

No I’m not throwing parts. It’s 177000 miles and needs a tune up. And not all autos get resistor plugs or wires even though they’ve been around for years

    Noise Blankers that actually Work?

The nr-1 is the best thing I’ve seen. It filters the noise before it gets to the radio. Go on YouTube and google nr-2 noise blanker. S3vora builds them. Pure fire

    Ignition noise.

It’s time to address ignition noise through a tune up. Chevy Astro with a 4.3. It’s for sure spark related. There’s resistor wires and resistor plugs available. I’m leaning toward resistor wires and standard plugs. What’s your experiences?

A guy gave me a vector 4000 today. Needs cleaned up a bit.
