FTM-350 deaf on "SUB" BAND

New to me FTM350. I updated the V1.6 firmware when I got it. I have APRS set up on the R-Side. When I have that side as the MAIN band it broadcasts to the beacon and receives as expected. But while doing this the SUB BAND which is set to a local repeater, is deaf. (My FT3D on the table beside me...
