Nice rig I had one several years ago and if it's the same as my 817:
press 'F' momentarily
rotate the 'sel' knob until you see 'DSP' above one of the A B C buttons under the display
toggling that button should toggle large/small display
Good luck
Yes, that solid state amp can be keyed directly by your radio. I have no idea which pins you need to use on the Kenwood. Plug an RCA plug into the amp and short the other to the body of the amp. Did it key? Good, wire up a cable and use it but pay heed to manufacturers rated output of the...
I haven't kept an an accurate account but I think I probably have 32ish hours in it. I believe I can finish the main board assembly in another 4-6 hours. I still have to figure out how to stick it in the box. I'll then have a 10mW 160-6M SDR transceiver until I complete the GPA 10.
I don't know if anyone is interested but Genesis Radio is shipping their G59s now. I'm nearly done building mine and am quite pleased so far. Here's a few pics.
And a few more with some video.
It's not plug and play but the documentation is fairly good and the receiver is...
Who cares about wireless mics? The damn batteries are going to be dead when I want to use it anyways. Although walking through the house wearing a headset would be nice for when you need a .... pit stop. I want Bluetooth key and audio lines that don't require isolation. Reducing the tangle of...
I have a very nice unmodded Yaesu VX8R. I took it in trade a month ago and due to little APRS activity in my area have grown bored with it. The radio is in very good cosmetic and perfect working condition. It will come with the original antenna, original battery, 2000 mAh aftermarket battery and...
I ID every couple pics or every CQ. Most people who have written have decoded the pics. MMSSTV will automagically decode regardless of mode. I do not use the CW IDer. Yesterday the well intentioned and good natured ham who contacted me saw my self spot.
I was one of the stations there Saturday. I throw out a CQ on 30 from time to time. I enjoy getting the indignant emails "YOU'RE TRANSMITTING SSTV ON 30 METERS!!!!!". Yes, yes I am.
I've got an 811 (3 hole) sitting right here. I bought it used and ran it with the brand new Chinese tubes that came in it for a time. I observed that the Chinese 811s got cherry red when run in continuous duty (SSTV) even when limiting Ip to 400 mA and Ig to <120 mA. The manuals claims 400...

Thanks for sharing your experiences. They sound pretty typical of what I and others have observed with loops and modeling software. I didn't mean to hijack the thread. In regards to the original question, I think we'd both agree that loops of any orientation or polarization make fine...

You don't think that the changes you're seeing would be pattern changes due moving the feed point? I've seen exactly what you're describing in my vertically oriented deltas (which do indeed swap polarity depending on feed point). I also see big changes in the pattern of my...
I have a fullwave 160 meter loop strung around my house at 25-40 feet. It is fed at a corner with 80ish feet of windowline. It works quite well and I really like it. I believe it is quieter and easier to tune across multiple bands than my old 135' doublet. Here is a very good article describing...
