i have a ft-2900r that has been working great for over two years. but now whin i try to talk on a repeter. it will key up but it does not send the ctccs (pl) tone with it needed to open up the repeter. i have master reset it.
reprogramed it put a new mic on it. changed antennas.
nothing...
wanted a rig for base use. i have a power supply and a 2 m antenna up in the air but no radio. like alot of us i am in a tight spot $$$$ wise. was just wondering if anyone with a extra rig just gathering dust might donate to a fellow ham. thanks for your time and 73's to all.

i have a yaesu ft-2900r. i am trying to store independent transmit frequencies for a odd split repeater. a 900 offset. i have done extatly what the owners manule says to do but i cant figer it out. it shows the - & + on the display both at same time like it is supost to do but i cant figer out...
i got a JPS28M jetstream switching power supply. seems great. has amp & volt meters on it with ajustable votage. tryed simplex and was told sounds great. :biggrin:

i have Digital Master 780 but not sure on how to work it. i can see signals on the waterfall but the text in the display is all mixed up. does not make sences.
now i do not have a radio hooked up to the pc. i was just trying to rx untill i get a compatible rig to use with it.

i tryed to check in to a net with my prostar 400 on usb and they told me that i was way off frequency. i can here fine but when i tx thats when it goes wrong. am is fine just ssb.
tomorrow is the test day to get my tickett. i am alittle nervise but i think i am ready. cant wait to get the test out of the way and start talking.
i know i cant talk untill my info is on the fcc data base. i was told it would problaly take about 5 days.

first i wanted to say hello to all. and this is a great form. i have been studding for my ham test. the test is on 3-13-2010. cant wait to take it. i am goin to try to get my general. i pass all the pratice tests for tech with 90-100%, the general 80+.
i bought a ft-2900 but it is on order...
this will be my first 2 meter antenna install and i want to get the most out of my first buy. i think i am going to go with a 5/8ths wave antenna like maby the dimond DP-NR22L.
