    CB's in cars?

I really do not want to modify the vehicle at all if possible. I do understand the practicality of the issue, and I do agree it's probably my best bet to go that route...however I guess I don't NEED the CB that bad, I just miss having it. If I could get a mile or two of dependable range, I'd be...

    CB's in cars?

I'm looking for ideas on an antenna that would work well on a car. I have a 2006 G6 GT and I really miss the CB my bronco has. I was told that my best option would be to get one of those small cell-phone looking antennas that stick to your rear glass. I have heard bad things about these, but I'm...

    Some guys RX is echoing

Echos are alright if they're barely there...but they get annoying quick.

    Good small setup?

I have a question regarding mics and echos. Why do people like echoing themselves? I can't hear a damn thing they say sometimes and it's annoying :?

Channels 1, 20, and 40 are all at like 3-3.4 on SWR meter...

It's just a mirror mount. I had the part of the mount where the antenna actually mounts to it pointing towards the truck at first. Well I decided to flip it around (putting it to where the lip and hole is to mount the antenna is facing away from the truck) and it fixed it... :?:

Channels 1, 20, and 40 are all at like 3-3.4 on SWR meter...

Well, we flipped the mount around and now my ch 1 is at 1.4 and my ch 40 is at 2.0, with a ch20 at around 1.15-1.2  I guess it's ok now.

Channels 1, 20, and 40 are all at like 3-3.4 on SWR meter...

Why would it be doing that? A few weeks ago it was at: Ch1 and ch40 around 1.4 and ch. 20 was around 1.3 ish. The only thing I did to it was tilt the antenna towards the truck to make it stand straight up and down, but it was a small tilt, not more than about 10 degrees or so.

Faceplates for in dash CB mounting . . .

    Guessing you aren't interested? :?:

Faceplates for in dash CB mounting . . .

Not very good pictures, but you can get the idea. My spot that I mounted it in is slanted and was hard to get a good pic of, and the first picture is a mock-up one I did, the finished product is a nicer shot. (I had my mockup in the truck, so I just popped it on there and took a pic)...

Faceplates for in dash CB mounting . . .

Do you mean a plate that goes around the CB to cover up the excess of the hole you've cut into your dash? If so, I can fab one up for you, I have a CO2 laser that will engrave/cut plastic, I can get a picture after school lets out (around 3:30 pm Central time) and you can see what I'm talking...

Another question, this time about a clicking PA speaker.

    Thanks. Just an off-topic question, what's "73" for? :)

Another question, this time about a clicking PA speaker.

It doesn't bother me, it's just a small click, but I was just wondering if it would damage my CB or PA speaker. (Yes, it's under the hood, mounted on the firewall right next to the brake booster.

Another question, this time about a clicking PA speaker.

I'm not talking of an external speaker or the internal speaker on the unit, I'm talking about a Public Address speaker, the ones you put under your hood and talk to innocent bystanders with. If that's what you're talking about, then I need to know one thing...what's a toroid choke?

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

That's why I run a 4ft off the carrier. About half of the antenna is above the roofline.

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

Thanks guys. I'm satisfied with my setup. Yes, my friend's antenna is only a 3' whip, but that's only because the 4' whips don't look good (to him) on a single cab short bed truck. I sort of agree, and although looks are not what he/I should be gauging on, it ended up ruling our decision :)...

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

No no, there's only one radio on my antenna. What I meant was, at the time when I was getting bad reception, I went to the local Walmart and bought a midland 40ch (one model under the one I bought online) just to make sure it wasn't the CBs fault for me getting around 1/2 a mile at the time...

Another question, this time about a clicking PA speaker.

Sorry to keep bugging you guys, but I have yet another question. When my truck is idling, if I listen closely (my truck is pretty loud, so it's not really noticable unless you've got good ears or you're listening for it) I can hear the PA speaker make a clicking noise (like when you push the...

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

I haven't overtightened it, because it still comes off every few days or so. I made sure as not to strip out the threads.

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

Well, it was. Now it's not..I think I may have messed it up because it came off the mount (vibrated itself off). But, it went up. Don't really know why. Maybe I checked it in a more/less crowded area? It was a different spot than I checked it earlier this month. OH, and I have another CB...

Two questions: good milage and increasing incoming signal

Hello again. Today my friend and I got just shy of 9 miles! We're very pleased with this, but we were wondering, how can you increase your incoming signal? What I mean by this is that I could hear him towards the end of 9 miles but he couldn't hear me. I know it is possible that it's my...
