I like my VX-6R . Has nice RX from AM radio to cordless phiones and of course is sold as a tribander. This is quickly fixed with the removing of a solder joint to make it do 6m. Works great for all the ham bands and has made my bearcat scanner obsolete 8)

I own one. Rarly use it but I won't give it up. Mine is the TRC 221. It's a brick size handheld BUT it has a long long whip. And THAT is the key to a good cb handheld. Rubber duckie antennas are garbage. And cb handheld with a good antenna is good in my opinion. An output between 2-4...

How do you figure? That's an 8 MHz jump and the MUF will often lie between those points...never making it to the bottom edge of 10M. A chance. At least you know the MUF is moving higher then 'normal' these days.

A simple portable sw radio made by drake or grundig (never gone wrong with the later) can pick up wwv. As stated 2.5 ......5 .....10......15 and 20MHz are continuous broadcasts. If 20MHz is coming in good I would check 11m. There is a chance it's good for dx. The MUF BTW is not constant...

They are mexican taxi drivers on 3 and 5. I've seen the taxis in Cabos San Lucas riding 102' whips and high powered mobile amps at times. Channel 3 down there was unusable. 5 12 and 31 were bad too.

What frequencies are you trying to receive? I have used my imax2000 on the scanner but mostly when scanning 30-54MHz. Most activity here is vhf 137-174MHz so I mainly use a small vhf whip. Actually an old car antenna is better then the a99 for a scanner usually. But the Antron will do...
