    Installed Bluetooth BU-1 in VX-8DR

Pairing VX-8DR (with BU-1 installed) with BH-2A Ahh... ok, it turns out you need to be in the "Bluetooth PCODE" menu to initiate pairing by pressing "V/M" button... took me a few tries to figure it out. -albertr

Yaesu VX-8r mod - first on the internet!

Ok, removed the seal pad and was tied to cleaned up contacts around soldering pads of former resistor. After a few tries it came back to A3. Interesting that contacts were not shot (as measured with my multimeter). Hmm... maybe a bad contact somewhere? I guess I'll try to use it for a few days...

Yaesu VX-8r mod - first on the internet!

Connected it to PC, and, yes, it became A2 again... Will have to pull out the seal pad to check on contacts inside. Now I know why Yaesu included two of them in the box ;) -albertr

My VX-8DR reset itself and now it's back to original locked state! I'm wondering if somehow newly installed bluetooth module is touching soldering pads and shorting them out? Too bad that I already installed a seal pad, now will have to remove it again... -albertr

When you hit "Read the radio" button it...

Yaesu VX-8r mod - first on the internet!

I just got a fresh new US VX-8DR from the store... and resistor is there. With resistor it identified itself as A2, after removing the resistor it becomes A3. If you don't mind cutting the trace, I can try to help you to identify the line that needs to be cut, just make a clear hi-res picture...

Will Yaesu CT-143 work with VX-8DR?

I guess it makes sense to cut on manufacturing cost, but also makes software programming cumbersome when external mike or GPRS module is attached to the 7-pin connector. I'm getting my VX-8DR later this week and will try to trace connectors to confirm it. -albertr

Will Yaesu CT-143 work with VX-8DR?

Well, just wondering if anybody knows? VX-8DR has a 7-pin connector with serial lines, but does it have another serial port on earphone plug connector for use with Yaesu CT-143 cable? -albertr
