VX-8 ext. mic wiring, impedance and condensors??

I recently purchased a used VX8R, and I need to convert some military headsets to work with it. I got the pin-out stuff fromt the other thread, so that's great. I'm having issues with figuring out which microphones to usethough. Some sound really really low, while others don't work at all...
