I would like to know what they used for that center “wing” section. It must be some of the strongest stuff around to be able to support payload and contain the thrust of all those engines.
I did something similar a while back, there was a lot of lightning one night so I unhooked my coax, a few days later I turned the radio on and I thought to myself “man is it quiet tonight” I scanned channels expecting to hear someone somewhere, nope there was nothing AM, USB, and LSB. I went to...
It is a Phillipine made, and it's fully expanded but I would have to check to be exact. I do not think it has had the caps replaced. I got it from a friend because it wasn't working. I then took it to a member of one of the radio clubs I used to be part of who has worked on radios for years. He...
I have a fairly nice 148 I would be interested in trading, no echo board either though. It does have variable power, and extra channels. I get great audio reports with it. I will try and get some pictures of it later. If you are actually in the black hills, we might be able to meet up so you can...
Cool stuff Guys! Keep up the good work! I always thought there was a way to improve these radios also, just not smart enough to figure it out for myself :)
I'm seeing similar results to everyone else, I have had radios that are supposed to be super whatever tuned and I rarely see my meter go over 20. I'm not saying it's accurate but it seems reasonable. I picked up a cobra 29 at a garage sale for cheap once, that had every limiter cut and every...
I have no intention of over drivng my amps to see bigger numbers, i have a TS 250HDV in the mobile hooked to my 148. i have it set up so that it swings around 125-150W, i get good audio reports all the time and have talked 50+ miles locally and all over the US on skip. i see no reason to pound...
Some help for an uneducated CB Nut.
I know I am probably going to get blasted for this but i had to ask. Now that the Toshiba transistors are gone and we have to deal with the Chinese knock offs i was thinking that maybe the RM Italy stuff is starting to look better. The KL-203 and KL-503 are...
Better ask over on cbrt, those guys seem to love everhardt antennas. I would think having the base coil wound that tight would be fairly inefficient. Reminds me of the cheap steel whip antennas they sell at radio shack. I'm sure it will work, but I doubt it would be that impressive.
It's just an old used one I found, there are very few of the small radios out there. I have become interested in all of them suddenly. :) thanks for the link, I will have to look it over sometime. Rat shack radios are funny in how much they vary in their manufactures.
