Im very suprised that the Sirio Tornado isnt more popular (Im the only one around my area that owns/uses one) maybe the price scares the big shots away, lol. Better engineered/designed than a more expensive Maco 5/8.......I got an awesome antenna for the price, Sirio should charge $130, then it...
I run a Sirio Tornado myself, great RX/TX! I also had a fiberglass static stick that had no ears, huge improvement. Best bang for the buck antenna, $88 shipped to my door and looks sweet on my roof too.
I would never put holes in my roof for a stupid CB antenna....SMFH. If a tornado takes out my subdivision I bet the only things standing would be the chimneys, lol. Alot of these houses still have huge TV ant's on their chimneys still. Just dont go crazy with tons of masting, I used a 10ft...
I was playing around with the data cord & software the other day and my 955 got stuck on 28.0000. A window popped up on the web site and the tech quickly helped me out, told me to hold all 3 tiny buttons in and turn radio on......WORKED!. Im getting acquinted alot with this awesome radio, any...
Have you tryied the reset option? Push in and hold all 3 buttons on left hand side while you turn the radio on, should reset everything. There is a couple VR's for SSB, try the limiter VR?
I know Xforce sells this amp for $212 but dont forget they come with DEI pills, if you want Toshibas they charge $40 per pill xtra, then xtra for ssb delay.....xtra for mod light.......then xtra for a var. fan. Then.......xtra for taxes & shipping. For a short time i would take $200 for mine.
$250 obo shipped from Mi. Var. fan, mod led and in-line fuse. 2879's......Ive only owned this 2-pill for about a month, driving it with a Gen. Lee and getting great reports. Since i currently dont have a SSB radio, i cant test it on SSB but im more of a AM user anyways. This forum wont let me...
Cutting the antenna was a major mistake, i would find/replace the top section first to get back to stock. Then, remove the choke......might be giving a false reading. 80+ft of coax to the back deck is overkill but not the main concern, make sure the coax isnt looped or rats...
I recently just sold a 979 with an RFX-75, nice lil radio...same size as a 29 classic. Im currently using a Gen Lee on my base, awesome & loud audio. But, i agree on the earlier comment that there's really no comparison.
Ive done some research on the duel mosfet radios and some do 50+w but some can do 70w like mine, yes the swing diode really wakes up a Ranger board compared to stock. Older duel final radios that have 1969 trans's can do 40w-44w easy. Now, i do use a Dosey thats calibrated....These duel mosfet...
I tried installing a switch to make it a "key-up" effect but i couldnt get it just right, so i ended up just scrapping the switch idea and just hit the button when i keyed the mic. I like the Tweety's pot. option to lay the hammer on troublemakers.
I recently won a bid on a gently used duel mosfet General Lee for $132 shipped. Like every radio i get, it was out of alignment bad but nothing i cant handle (no wonder the seller got rid of it, my benifit though). I did 2 mods to it immediatly, first was the swing (diode) mod then the shottky...
