Before my dipole I had a good, car magnet mount stuck on top of my fridge and I did better as far as getting out. I had a long conversation with a guy in Canada one night (from Mass). Nobody believed me but it happened:D
I'm not having much luck with my horizontal dipole. It has great ears and I listen to skip all day but nobody can hear me. In my situation it could be the height. I have it in my attic on a one story house. Eventually I'll buy a real antenna.
Another nubie question.
I recently traded for a small tube amp that does about 75 watts. The guy I got it from said I could use it as is, or use it to push another amp. That surprised me. Are there general rules for this? What type of amplifier would accept 75 watts without blowing up?
BUMP.
I have the PAL-351 BDX that goes crazy with chatter but only in SSB. From reading this board it looks like a faulty SSB delay. Is this an easy fix for my local guy? What is the average cost to fix my "click-click-click" problem?
When I screw the coax into the back, all the way...I hear nothing. When I back it off so just the pin is in, without tightening, I can hear the world. I thought it was bad coax so I bought new stuff.
No change! What is this????
There is a large stud on the back that says GROUND. I found some directions for this linear and it says: "connect a good outside ground to stud on rear of unit". We never did this back in the day so I'm a bit surprised. Can someone explain how to ground this amp? I guess they want a wire from...
I know this is a long shot but I wonder if anyone knows what this antenna is. I bought it from an older guy who said it was a Realistic from the 1970s. It has 2 sections, 6 feet each, that screw together.
Ok, I finally gave up and found someone who has lots of experience with this stuff. So, he wired it for free and now my Turner doesn't work. I looked at the wires and he did it like this:
1- no color (shield?)
2- white
3- black
4 red
Does this look right to you guys?
I emailed 4 places today. I haven't heard back from any of them. I have searched thru 2 dozen other sites that make adapters, and still nothing. Nobody makes a 4-female to 5-female mic adapter. Am I missing something?
I've never re-wired anything in my entire life. I wouldn't know where to begin. That's why I am looking for this adapter. I have been to over 20 web sites. Can I be the only person who has ever gone from a Realistic to a Galaxy? It sure seems that way. There aren't any on Ebay. Someone needs to...
I have a Turner plus 2 that I used for many years on a Realistic. The Turner has 5 pins on the end. My latest radio is a Galaxy 949 that has 4 pins on the side.
