    Sams PhotoFacts Collection

Anything on a Cobra 146 GTL, need to try and find out why i'm getting an unbalanced voltage between the USB and LSB Voltage readings, it's not allowing me to adjust the frequency, it's about 10 Kc's off on LSB and more on USB, but works great on AM.

HAM/CB operators ... how old are you?

I I have one of the Cobra 29 LTD NW before they came out with the ST's (Sound Trackers), also have several of the older Cobra radios ( Cobra 146 GTL, Cobra 148 GTL, and a Cobra 29 LTD Classic), but my favorite radio for talking DX is my Ranger 2950 Mirage.

HAM/CB operators ... how old are you?

I don't worry about the power going out, i run a off-grid solar system, it pays to be prepared.

HAM/CB operators ... how old are you?

I'm 67, started talking on the radio in the late 60's with my grandfather who was a licensed ham operator, don't know what the regulations are now, but back in the day as long as you were licensed the FCC would allow your kids or grandkids talk on the radio as long as you were there to supervise...

What's in your bug out bag?

I can understand that, but as a veteran i'm pretty much prepared for anything, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't then it doesn't and thank God.

What's in your bug out bag?

I'm not what you would call a prepper but i am a Vietnam Veteran and have stuff that most ex/retired military personnel would carry, guns and ammo, knives and a couple of axes, rope and a coil of some solid wire for binding stuff, several flashlights and lanterns, a 150 Watt solar setup...

    GMRS or CB

CB Some people won't agree with this but i prefer the CB especially now that they are approved for FM here in the US, i also like to use my Motorola MURS mobile radio.

    Thoughts on Stryker Radios

Get the 955, the 955hp isn't worth getting, the boards are really thin and have a tendency to crack if bounced around in the mobile, friend of mine has both and had to send in the 955hp twice to be repaired.

ON THE OTHER END OF THE PRICE SCALE . . . .

I agree, i use a Cobra 146 which works great on side-band, i also use a Cobra 29 LTD Classic, i believe the older model Cobras have the best audio.

    GMRS or CB

We use the MURS frequencies, good hand helds get out about 3-5 miles, mobiles with a decent antenna about 10-15 miles, my base station 20-30 miles, and the frequencies are usually very quiet.

    Base A99 Height question

The Antron 99 works best at a full wave length, which is about 36 feet from the ground to the base of the antenna, i have mine set up that way and talk skip from the west coast to the east coast, also talk to Hawaii, New Zealand, The Virgin Islands, and a couple of other countries.

    MURS

I run a Motorola Mobile VHF radio with the MURS frequencies programed into it, talk to several guys here in Southern California who are like 15 to 20 miles away, i like it because it is so much quieter than 11 meters (CB).
