Hi Nomad thanks for the reply, I think you were correct about the age of the scope though and I do not think it is operating properly. I did take the cover off today and cleaned the volts/ div as well as I could and it did help, I went to calibrate the probe and you can barely see the vertical...

Yeah, I am new to using a scope and I need to work with it a bit and do some research in them, I will try your adjustments and also look into how to calibrate the probes because no I did not calibrate them yet. Thank you for the advice I appreciate it, this is a new ordeal for me

Where as the other 74160 ic outputs give somthing that looks more like this

I do see another thing, the 74160 ic on the far right there just gives this on the outputs

I believe it does have a trigger but it looks like it is going off the chart, not sure what I am doing here, any idea on adjusting it LOL ?

Yes, think I will be doing this the way you and tram d recommend, I ordered the sockets. I am not positive it is the chip that is bad but there is no change on the outputs of this chip compared to the other one, it did not do the same thing
