My Ranger RCI tends to drift off frequency when I'm talking on it a lot. It warms up inside the cover and starts to drift on SSB while transmitting. Goes back to normal after it cools down. Anyone know what crystal might be causing this issue?

yeah it's a RCI 2995 DX base station with a HP CPU/Display board.

unfortunately that mod won't work with my 2995 DX HP my pcb is all surface mount completely different from the pcb shown in the youtube video.

yeah I'd like to put a pot in for the hi-cut where the headphone jack is. So what do I need a tone control capacitor pot?

Thanks Eldorado, got the switch installed and wires soldered in and wow what a big difference. Still not a 100% receive like my 2000 but it is much much better. I wonder if a potentiometer could be used maybe like a 5K

totally understand, I really like the layout and the looks for the 2995 DX and it's a talker for sure but the receiver just sucks. Such a shame they can't make it better.

Thanks guys, swapped out the old green LED's in the key pad tonight. They were very dim. Looks much better now.

I have the MeanWell LRS-600-12 50 amp in my RCI 2995 DX and it works fantastic. It's a little over sized but it fits. I couldn't use the support bar cause of it being a bigger PSU. Had to swap out the fan in the PSU for a quieter one.
