I havn't had time to mess with the noise issue. On a bird 5 watt element there is 3.5 watts forward and 0 reflect. On the radio meter it shows 1.5:1 swr. I don't have a regular swr meter. More than likely it is electrical. I should have grounded it closer to the radio but instead I ran the...

No problem, yeah that is rg-58. It isn't your standard stuff though. We use it for 100 watt public saftey radios daily (motorola). If I change it I will use lmr400 or 3/8s hardline (only cause all this is free). If I ever run some power (thats why I used the fuse block to hook a amp up or...

Has anyone used this "stud" mount?

Well, I ended up with a bad connector and need to pay more attention when assembling the mount. The stud in the bottom that holds the whole thing together was touching the side. Now I have 1.5:1 on the radio and 3.5 watts forward and 0 reflect on a Bird 5 watt element. I guess it is the best it...

Yeah, that is what I thought to. I just wanted to know if anyone had any specific problems with that mount before I spend to much time with it. I will recheck everything else also.

Has anyone used this "stud" mount?

Ok, thanks for the comments so far. The reason i ask is because I bought one already and I am having problems setting the antenna, it pegs the meter on the radio on all channels whether the tunable tip is all the way in or out (I have access to a bird meter and telewave at the shop I will check...

Has anyone used this "stud" mount? The one on the far right that is all metal. I have read that the gum drop mounts are junk.

    New to CB's, few questions!

The Unidens have a mail-in rebate right now. I think it is $30 for the 68 Elites and $40 for the 78 Elites. For the price after rebate you can't beat the radios.
