Ill try a longer jumper.
Im on the northshore of N.O.
If I went with the wilson trucker, should I get the longer shaft to put the coil higher or the short shaft?
Thanks,
I think something has got to be wrong in the amp for it to jump so high without it even being on. I don't know if they vendor will take it back but I may order a better amp from someone else and see if I have such a big jump with that one.
I may give up on the amp. Just trying to get a little further out to talk to my friends. The roof is metal they paint them white to look like the old Fjs.
I am using the Bandi Mount but not the Firering, I have a traditional stud on it. The mount is grounded using a strap and not just the little nut they give you.
I have put the new Wilson 4' flex antenna on. Without the amp the swr is 1.7. It was 1.5 until I put the rubber cap on.
With...
I may be explaining it wrong. Im checking on channel 20 for the time being. I key up with the switch on FWD and turn the knob to the SET line then switch to REF. without the amp in line the needle drops to 2. I was told that this is a 1:2 with the amp inline, but off, the needle drops to...
Thanks. Ill try to get all the coax changed tomorrow. I have a new mini8 jumper between the radio and amp. Have to undo my sealed up hole to get the new coax to the antenna.
I hooked the antenna back up directly to the radio and the swr went back to 1:2.
My swr with the amp in line, with...
I'm sorry for asking so many questions but I'm really stumped with this.
I will admit that I'm not using a good SWR meter, it is a cheap astastic but with it I was able to set up a radio and antenna in a friends truck. We went from 1:3.5 and not being able to transmit further than across...
Thanks. I'm seeing 40 watts on my meter. I often see a lower watt and a peak when amp shopping.
Under what conditions would the peak wattage be seen?
Thanks
The best i could ever get the swr was about 1:1.5 now its about 1:2.5. Can't seem to get it much better than that.
This is a mobile set up, the antenna had a grounding lead that raised the swr before so I cut it off after playing with the tuning rod. Now I think I need it. I'm going to order...
Thanks. Its working with a 10 amp fuse.
The quality of my reception has gone down after installing it but its using some crappy coax I had laying around. This weekend I'll get it installed properly and use some good coax.
Yeah, I figured they would but this is able to be hidden easier. I don't really have a place where I can mount one tastefully and be able to read/operate it easily.
I would really like something like a Connex 3300, or even a Cobra 29. Not sure I really need the extra power. Would like to try...
I just put it the meter on the continuity test. Where if there is a connection the needle flips over to the other side.
I was told there should be no connection between hot and ground and the meter shouldn't move.
I went ahead and tuned it, got the SWR to 1:2 and it transmits pretty far...
I just installed a cobra 75 wx st in my car. The type where everything is in the mic.
I was checking my antenna connections and found continuity between hot and ground. I tore everything down and found it is in the radio. There is continuity between the center connector and the outer threads.
