I fooled around in the radio room last night checking out some of my older radios and 11 meter am was as dead as I've ever seen it. And I haven't heard anything on FM either. Yesterday 38 lsb was hit & miss all day. Today is mow the grass day before the rain starts again tonight.

You want to talk about weird. I got done mowing the lawn and decided to take a break and have some breakfast, but first checked the radio room. Everything dead except 5 AM on 11meter. First time I ever heard activity on 5 AM !

Yes, even if 6 seems dead, channel 5 lately has south american traffic in the afternoon and asian operators on it late in the evening here on the west coast.
Very intense solar activity is making for strange conditions.

We've had three X class flares in the last 48 hours, and they suspect there will be more as that part of the sun becomes more in line with Earth.
Likely we'll have more unsettled radio conditions for a few more days yet........ It's been pretty much dead all day here today so far, but I expect the Aussies will make an appearance later as they always do!

Same strange conditions here too. Everthing East of the mississippi was in the mud. West of Ole Miss was a different story. Calif, Arizona, Colorado and Washington State all sounded like they were my neighbors. Totally in the red on my old Cobra.
101 Socal and I hooked up for a solid 20 minute+ QSO. Also heard someone talking to 23 BC Coyote and I swung my antenna and shouted out like crazy, but didn't make the trip.

BTW . . . Did a side-by-side with the Q6PRO and the 139XLR on a coax switch. 139 was noise-free and pulling in stations the Q6 could only dream about. Didn't have my cel phone to record it. I will manana.

It is possible you got a bad Q6Pro. Look I got a bad President radio 2 times in a row and it put a bad taste in my mouth for president radios. I will say my Lincoln II+ appears to be receiving like my other radios but noisy. Does Your Q6Pro have the firmware update? Neither of mine have it.

I think you must have a received a dud radio there JJ. My Anytone 5555N2 is a fair bit quieter on receive than my 148GTL, mainly due to the noise reduction circuit.
I know some of the early 5555N2's had noisy receive problems as well, and the solution was a setting in the service menu somewhere. Not sure if the Pro even has a user accessible service menu, so not sure if there any option to fix the problem in the software.

Possibly @Pez would have a idea about the newest software version if he sees this?

My brother just got the QT80 version, I will be down there to visit soon and will see about getting on the air with it.

im ready to get rid of my hash maker

Just had a nice 20 minute QSO with 168 Sebastian on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean on 27.580 USB. 2:30am my time, 11:30am his time. He was running a Yaesu FTDX10 through a 2 element Quad doing whatever the radio does.

Even though I am not a wire antenna guy for 11 meters, I have to say this poor man's Anan (HL2) & Sirio Gainmaster 5/8 vertical dipole is a skip talking combo and with a 0degree TOA, talks great ground wave too. I did 180 miles 2 nights ago for over an hour to Richard (Diamond) in Premont TX on a Super Penetrator.
