142 gtl issue

I have a 142gtl strange thing only has modulation no rf power or receive any help would be appreciated thanks.

Could it have been broken when you were sanding and painting the back panel?

Does the receive light show green?

Does it go dark or turn red when you key the mike?

Think is a grounding issue I'm sanding the back to metal agian and see what happens.

Yes has/rx light and tx light it does tx and has modulation but no receive or no rf power

When I purchased was doing the same issue so I recaped the radio same issues

Check SO-239 for corrosion between the lock washer and or nut. On both sides of jack. And/or if the solder lug from said jack has bad solder joint on PCB if has said lug.

Radio is cursed no dc power but ac ac power works

Fuse blows now guess it's a gonner .

I'd suspect an electrolytic cap with the polarity installed backwards.

Maybe more than one?

I've done that. Just seems a logical possibility.

Just a question of curiosity, how are you seeing modulation when it has no RF power?

Right now it's on frequency, on all channels but still get no tone with sig generator and no rf power
