1969 mosfit final replacement

The IRF520 is one possible replacement, though its not a simple plug-n-play. You will need to make additional changes, many of which are already written up as mods. Here is a decent place to start MOSFET Experiment Information , The ERF-2030 mentioned is still available, but typically the cost is much more then the IRF-520 which can be had for well under a buck each.

If you want/need further info more details will be needed.

I would say replace it with another 1969 final. You might try and find afew spare 1969's to stock up on for future repairs.

Yup, their out there. The mosfets are less then a dollar, if you do the mosfet changeover there are other things that need to be done for it to work. It's not just an even swap out.

LUCKY MOMENT

Now try getting an original 2sc2312...oh yeah call for price and availBILITY!
LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE OUT THERE based on supply and demand,if the manufacturer decides thats it no more then all were going to get are nasty cheap foreign copies of semiconductors which just dont come up to scratch! which means we will be getting out the heatsink compound more often!
good dx all

First of all which radio did this come out of and then we can possibly recommend a replacement. If it is a 1969 I would venture to say it is out of a Galaxy,Ranger,Connex and the sort. Give us the make and model and then we can say which is best. The mosfet is cheap and requires some good soldering and desoldering skills, which if you are not careful can burn traces and tear up a radio. The mosfet will not offer you much more in the wattage department either to justify the conversion. The 2sc2166 could do almost the same as the 1969 and the very few watts lossed will not even be heard at the other end; and you wont have to tear into your radio to put it in. It is a drop in replacement.
