Has anyone run a N2 with a D104? Would this be a good microphone with the N2? Should I change the mic element and add resistor to amp board in base of mic? Pro's? Cons? Ideas?

If it is not a powered mic, then the impedance of the element will be too high for your radio and it will have no low audio. If it is powered, they were made to impedance match to the solid state radios so it would probably sound good.
TUP9 is the Silver Eagle. PC100 board, amplified.

Have resistors already, and may substitute another dynamic element into an old head and swap. Need to find out what resistor gets installed and where.

If you are running mostly AM then its a good match if you're a Sidebander then not so great. I know a lot of people will say the 104 sounds good on SSB but it really does not. If you run SSB try to find a 1104c or Super Sidekick. There may be newer mic's that are good on SSB but I am not familiar with them.
Have a Sure 444 sitting around. The N2 was tunned with an RK56. Haven't gotten radio out of box yet. I will if I ever get that L2 up, this Chinese Virus has really put me in prepper mode. Garden needs get put in first.
I tend to agree, but it’s not really a D104 anymore if he changes the element. That, I believe, would sound great.

Please, describe. Would like to sound good on AM and SSB. Anything will help. Got a pristine TUP9 and would like to use it.
I've run D104s for years on a variety of RCI flavors.. turn the D down all the way and crack it open about 1/8 a turn.. let the radio mic gain do the rest. I have never been the kind to crank up a D and talk from 5 ft away either... your mileage may vary..
