What's a good cb antenna other than a steel whip that'll mount to a 3/8-24 stud mount.
We had a firestick on a tri-mag mount. Worked great for a couple thousand miles or more. What's a good cb antenna other than a steel whip that'll mount to a 3/8-24 stud mount.
I was thinking a Firestick would be up there in the top picks. Been many years since I owned one. I always had tuning issues with it. Figured there is probably several new players on the lot. Definitely not against going with a Firestick. We had a firestick on a tri-mag mount. Worked great for a couple thousand miles or more.
I'll check that out. ThanksWhile on the road for 9+ years the best antenna I used was a 7ft Firestik. The top loaded coil was small, was simple to tune and allowed me to work SSB DX better than anything else I tried. Just my $.02
7 3
The 7 footers seemed much more efficient than the 4ft model naturally, my theory being the loading coil was much less wire and higher in the air and farther away from the sheet metal.I'll check that out. Thanks
That makes senseMFJ 10 meter ham stick tuned for 11 meters.
Thanks, that's one I was trying to remember. The Power Packer. At least, I'm fairly certain that's the one. I think it's been around forever.I have always been a fan of the old school 6.5 foot Francis, or the Hustler HQ27 CB Antenna like on the Kenworth when Smokey and the Bandit begins.
Loves, Pilot Flying J are full of accessories, usually not anything over 4' though because they market for big trucks.I have a couple truck stops about 45 minutes away. I might see what they have. Most truckers use the 3/8 stuff.
I spent a decade going in and out of the big 3 truck stops. All they stock antenna wise is the typical 4ft stuff, Wilson, Firestik, Francis, K40 and cheaper crap, all of it at high prices. You won't find anything exotic there.I was really hoping they'd have one. It'd probably be more expensive anyway. There used to be CB shop near the one truck stop. They might have something. Been around 15 years since I was there last.
