#30 Kenwood TS-50 Part 3 troubleshoot transmitter and repair

Third and final episode.
In this video we are back on the old Kenwood TS-50. We do a bit of troubleshooting and find yet more interesting faults.

Some blown parts, broken parts, and parts not plugged in. Bare with me as we try and bring this rig back to life.

Think it was the unplugged wires from the filter board that shorted against ground that caused that chain of parts to fail?
I am at a loss for the cause - if that isn't it . . .

I saw nothing on the connector that showed it had shorted. But what I did find is the connector and the ribbon cable that connected the final board to the filter board was bad. This radio lead me on many goose chases. And every path I took I found problems there. I have many hours of footage of this thing.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
