I'd want to be honest here, Scott's radio is very open about flaws in ranger builds, cosmetic flaws, factory misaligned radios ect.
This video shows how a new radio has a flickering channel display out of the box and he says that it is also a problem on the Texas Ranger radios.
Again this is not directed at him, he supply's radios to his customer base and this is what they want, it's just to show what the factory is shipping as far as quality out of the box being sent to the retailers.
The serial number on the box shows that this radio is already several years old.

Looking at the factory alignment shows they really need to be serviced right out of the box because they are sloppy at the factory and been sitting for 3-4 years somewhere.
Anyway
Here it is.

Good grief! And yet people still keep buying them!

Not surprised they can't build and align a radio, they even seem to to struggle with basic writing skills.......they spelled "Cancelling" wrong on the box, and what the heck does "60 watts up more" mean exactly?

Perhaps what they were trying to communicate was lost in translation?

I am one of the guilty parties that have recently purchased a Texas Ranger TRE-797 40 channel CB radio from Scott’s Radios, and I can confirm the flickering channel display on the LOW dimmer setting. It stopped doing that shortly after I started using the radio, and now the display acts correctly in any dimmer setting.

RCI is definitely living in the past, when compared to manufacturers like Anytone and President. However, I am glad that I can still purchase the same basic radio that I had 25 years ago. My TRE-797 is basically the same radio as the Galaxy DX-9x9 radios from the late 1990s. I know the radio…I can fix the radio if I have to. And I don’t need a hot air rework station to do it.

In the case of the TRE-797, I bought it because I no longer can deal with menu-driven mobile radios in my vehicle. I just wanted a sideband CB radio with the same interface that has existed for decades. I don’t have to look at the radio to change anything on the radio.

An RCI radio is about the only thing that hasn’t changed in 30+ years, and given the state of the world today, I appreciate the hell out of that

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
