4 element beam

Hi. By chance, do you know brand and model of this antenna, and if it is a cb or ham antenna ?

It is a 4 element, no trap beam. It has something like a double gama match. Any input is welcome.

Hello. It appears to be a Hy-Gain 4element beam antenna, what band or frequency don't know. The driven element is electrically isolated from the boom. Which may not allow the duel gamma matches work. The original matching system was a hair pin matching system. You can see the hair pin in the attached site. And it gives the beams lengths and such.


This antenna may have been modified from the hair pin to a duel gamma matching. Suggest going back to the hair pin.

I am sure the attached is not the EXACT antenna you have. But the parts diagrams in the attachment may look very familiar.

Alexis, check out this Hy-gain manual. Maybe your antenna has missing parts or has been modified.

Figure #6 in this manual shows three driven elements on this 7-element beam. The elements are different but there is some similarity to be noted in the manual.

To me the additional element(s) above the driven element in your images could be another type of a beta match and that could suggest to me that the antenna is a single frequency beam.

That manual you linked too is for the Hygain DB-1217 which is a dual band yagi for 12m and 17m or alternatively the DB-1015 for 10/15m. That antenna uses what is called a parasleeve that consists of those two parallel elements either side of the driver element. That antenna is "shock excited" by the driven RF and offers a good match using a single driven element on two different bands without traps in conjunction with full sized monoband parasitic elements. I have the tribander version of that antenna for 10/15/20m.......The Hygain Explorer-14. It is actually a pretty slick form of driving an antenna.
