Man, all that work and time just to get to the relay. Not even a sealed unit either, so it is prone to this issue all the time and indiscriminately as well?
Yep, it is a little bear to get to. These relays were very high quality back in the 60's. They are even rebuild then by changing out any of the parts, coil, a single contact ect. Most relays of this time were not sealed. I find they can still work with in spec today.
