"I'd say it's worth scrapping the internal supply's regulator and transformer to install a fifty-buck switchmode brick."

I wouldn't completely scrap the internal supply. I can think of several ways to re-purpose the transformer.
turned around backwards , rectified and doubled its' about 1625VDC. Useful for attaching to yard art that
the zombies, meth monkeys and non specific morons won't leave alone.
Rectified and filtered (still backwards) it's just over 800VDC and useful for building a go-no go sweep tube tester.
Voltages and current won't be ideal because it's backwards YMMV.

I now return you to our regularly unscheduled postings

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
