Adding a VFO to a Cobra 142

Pretty much any CB with a PLL. The VCO in most such radios will prove to be a drifty VFO. Stability is not a big issue when the PLL circuit is 'tweaking' the tuning voltage ten thousand times a second, locking it to your 10.24 MHz crystal.

But using the radio's Voltage-Controlled Oscillator as an open-loop VFO will reveal that it's not terribly stable.

Cute idea, though.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
