Can someone tell me the fair market value of an Al 84?
It's been upgraded: caps, ceramic anoid caps, 10 metro mod ECT ECT.
Id like to begin using the ft 950 I bought about 9 months ago.
The ft 950 has been sitting in it's boxes since I purchased it.
It has been mars modified and will be used only on 11 meters SSB. I wanted to purchase a true HF amp without breaking the bank.
I do understand that the Al 84 isn't the most advanced amp, dated and will most likely do under 500 on 11 meters. But from my research it's a nice little amplifier, and perfect for my needs.
It's band selector stops at 15.
No axillary position.
I know other use them on 11 but don't quite understand how the modification was done and where the band selector switch is placed when used on "10" meters.
I'm sure there's a few of you that own or have owned this little gem.
Can you please explain this band switch contradiction? As I mentioned I've owned a Yaesu ft-950 for almost 9 months without ever taking it out of the box. I was and I'm content with my Uniden Madison and was waiting until I found a good cheap HF amplifier to go with the transceiver. I wasn't about to use the only amp I own that is capable of High Drive with an ft-950 (Palomar 300a lol)
I'm sure most of you would agree that's a good idea. Thanks. 73
